The LifeSouth Bloodmobile is at CCA today until 4pm taking blood donations. If they reach 25 donations, the CCA students will get a pizza party on a future date. Currently at 12:30 they’re at 13 donations (including me) and looking for more people to show up.

LifeSouth Community Development Coordinator Blake Lee said the majority of blood donated today will wind up at DCH (Druid City Hospital) in Tuscaloosa, with some going to UAB and some to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.

“We provide 100% of the blood supplied to DCH,” Mr. Lee said, “85% of the blood for all Alabama hospitals comes through us.”

The blood donated today will go to Montgomery to be processed, and will be able to help multiple people.

“Donations are processed into red blood cells, platelets, and plasma. For every single donation, three people can be helped,” Lee said.

It doesn’t take long. Come out this afternoon and “Give Blood, Save Lives.”
