Tinglewood Festival & Cars By The Creek-Sept 8

Montevallo is often recognized for the carvings of Tim Tingle in Orr Park. Each year thousands of visitors come to the park to enjoy these tree carvings. Over 40 carvings line the walking path along scenic Shoal Creek. It is a perfect venue to host a festival celebrating wood carving and other wood working crafts. This is the genesis for the Tinglewood Festival.
The Tinglewood Festival will be a free (no admission charge) one day event held in Orr Park on September 8, 2018. This Festival is being organized as a signature event for the City of Montevallo. The Festival is being organized by the Montevallo Chamber of Commerce, Montevallo Main Street, and the Montevallo Arts Council.
The Tinglewood Festival will feature a chainsaw carving exhibition, a whittling contest, demonstrations of wood working techniques, product displays and artist booths. At Tinglewood you will find everything from wooden bowls, vases, and toys, to handcrafted benches, chairs, furniture, and musical instruments. This unique festival will feature only wood and wood related products.
In conjunction with the festival there will be food vendors, live music, a classic car show, and children’s activities. The Tinglewood Festival will be a fun filled family event.
In 2017 the City of Montevallo celebrated its bicentennial with a Birthday Bash in Orr Park. This event drew over 6,500 people to celebrate with carnival rides, artisan booths, food, music and family entertainment. The Tinglewood Festival will be held on the same weekend in September 2018 and will build on the success of this initial event.
