Congratulations to the smiling Bibb County 4-H Animal Sciences youth, along with their great Coach Simon Carbone! Under the leadership of 4-H Foundation Agent Carbone, these Bibb County youth were a huge part of state championship teams at the Alabama 4-H Livestock Skillathon and Quiz Bowl competition held Friday-Saturday, January 20-21 at the Alabama4-H Center near Columbiana!

Separate competitions were held for Skillathon and Quiz Bowl. Junior (ages 9-11), Intermediate (ages 12-14) and Senior (ages 15-18) level teams populated by Bibb County 4-Hers won 1st place in all three levels in Skillathon, and in the Intermediate and Senior levels in Quiz Bowl. The Bibb County Junior level teams in both Skillathon and Quiz Bowl were comprised entirely of Bibb County youth. The Bibb County Junior Quiz Bowl team finished in 2nd place.

These are amazing accomplishments, especially given we did not even have a Bibb County 4-H Animal Sciences team, or a 4-H Agent dedicated to the county, until a year and a half ago. And this was only the second year that Carbone has led youth teams to the state competition.
