A packed court room full of citizens, business leaders, and local officials were on hand this evening at the Bibb County Courthouse to witness the ceremonial swearing in of new Bibb County Sheriff Jody Wade. The ceremony was conducted by District Judge William D. Owings. Sheriff Wade was sworn in immediately after he was appointed by Governor Robert Bentley in a private ceremony and took over the duties of office December 21.

Today’s public ceremony was for the benefit of all of his supporters, the citizens of the county and the law enforcement officers who will work with Sheriff Wade over the next two years. The swearing in was followed by a reception which was provided by the Bibb County Chamber of Commerce, The Bibb Voice, and friends of the Bibb County Republican Party.

Sheriff Wade said that he appreciated the work and thoughtfulness of the Chamber of Commerce, the Bibb Voice and the friends of the Republican Party that put together the reception for him, especially those that worked to make this event happen today. He announced that he intends to seek a full term as Sheriff in 2018 and will appear on the ballot as a Republican candidate in the 2018 primary. Sheriff Wade especially wanted to thank all of those who helped to make his appointment possible.
