Mark Tyner, Bibb County administrator for the past 13 years is one of only three applicants left in the running to become the next city administrator for the city of Northport, Alabama. This is after a meeting Thursday afternoon in what will likely be the last step before Northport Municipal leaders make a hiring decision for their new administrator.

Northport’s director of human resources, Joseph Rose, asked the three three applicants 18 standardized questions during a Thursday afternoon meeting at Northport City Hall.   Mayor-elect Donna Aaron and interim city administrator Charles Swann along with nine department heads were in attendance for the interviews.

On Monday after the council is sworn, they will either hire one of the three applicants interviewed Thursday or ask the Civil Service Board to certify additional candidates.   A decision on the hiring may come during the new council’s first meeting on Nov. 21.
