Governor Bentley has declared a state of emergency after Colonial Pipeline’s explosion and fire in Shelby County yesterday. Consumers can expect gasoline shortages and rising gasoline prices as a result of this accident. At least one construction worker has died and 5 others suffered severe burns. Workers were reportedly working on pipeline repairs when a trackhoe struck a pipeline they were draining of gasoline and may have caused the explosion. No names of the workers or their employer have been released at this time.
