The Birmingham Business Alliance, The Alabama Department of Commerce, the Bibb County Commission, and other business and elected officials gathered at the Bibb County Board of Education today to announce a major investment in Bibb County by a german based company that is a supplier to the automotive industry. MollerTech will build a new 150,000 SF state of the art manufacturing facility in Bibb County located on a 20 acre site in the Scott Davis Industrial Park in North Bibb County, near Woodstock.

The plant, which represents an investment of more than $46 million dollars , will manufacture interior parts for next generation Mercedes Benz SUVs. The expansion was announced today by MollerTech’s North American President Steve Jordan who said the Bibb County facility will serve as the company’s flagship manufacturing facility, incorporating new ideas and best practices from other operations in the company’s manufacturing footprint. The company has been in business for more than 100 years and is a  family owned business and supplier to Mercedes. This plant is expected to employ 222 workers at startup. Site preparation is expected to begin this week and the plant hopes to be in production by the end of 2019.

State economic officials stated that this project has been under development and negotiation for more than two years while the company shopped states and other counties for a location. They finally made a decision to locate in Bibb County only recently thanks to the hard work of state and local officials who have worked quietly and in secrecy to hammer out the details of the transaction.

Bibb County Commissioner Ricky Hubbard publicly thanked the Scott Davis family for their continued and unwavering support to economic growth and said that this project would have never happened for Bibb County but for the investment Scott Davis made in the future of Bibb County and the continuation of Scott’s commitment by his children. Today’s ceremony was attended by two of Scott’s children, Brett Davis and Cae Davis Allen, and their spouses.
