After the demonstrations, violence and near uncontrolled riots in Charlottesville, Virginia this past weekend reactions from the news media and self-serving politicians have been predictable, and eager to blame an embattled President who had nothing to do with the events in small town Virginia.

Conservative Review reported on comments made by Evangelist Franklin Graham…comments that need to be heard in Central Alabama and elsewhere in these turbulent times. Graham went on the offensive and reprinted below are excerpts from the Conservative Review article:

“In his attack, Graham made points few others have the guts to make, let alone defend in this day of knee-jerk reactionism and insta-boycotting.

“Shame on the politicians who are trying to push blame on President Trump for what happened in Charlottesville, VA,” the outspoken evangelist wrote. “That’s absurd.”

“What about the politicians such as the city council who voted to remove a memorial that had been in place since 1924, regardless of the possible repercussions?” he continued, referring to the statue of Robert E. Lee that was put forth by organizing groups as the impetus for the demonstration.

“How about the city politicians who issued the permit for the lawful demonstration to defend the statue?” he added, getting specific about the blame. “And why didn’t the mayor or the governor see that a powder keg was about to explode and stop it before it got started? Instead they want to blame President Donald J. Trump for everything.”

While some conservatives have brainlessly defended the rally and others — equally brainlessly — attack Trump to prove they’re not racists, Graham boldly said what few others have been willing to say, that evil is responsible for Saturday’s tragedy and foolish politicians were its unwitting tools. And nothing will infuriate liberals like that claim (well, that and maybe his refusal to blame Trump).

In their world, politics is everything, man is perfectible, and evil is something that springs from adolescence spent in the wrong environment.”

Governor Kay Ivey of Alabama recently signed a monuments protection act into law, theoretically protecting the removal, alteration, or desecration of any statute or monument that has been in place for more than 40 years. Already, the Mayor of Birmingham has attempted to circumvent that new law by erecting a wall around the Confederate monument in Linn Park. Today the state Attorney General filed a lawsuit against Mayor Bell over the issue and litigation will proceed over the coming weeks.

Alabama, and in particular, Bibb County, is not immune to the unrest that is going to continue over efforts to tar and erase our Southern Heritage. The lunatic left is calling all who served in the Confederate army a traitor to the United States whose service should never be recognized, preserved, or honored.  The belief of uneducated and uninformed lunatics that the reformation of all of our social problems can be resolved by silencing dissent and forcing their view, by violent means, upon those who disagree with them is what I learned to call anarchy. There is no longer a non-violent form of civil protest. We should not assume that this season of civil unrest that is now upon us will remain removed and distant from our peaceful community.

There was a news reporter with a TV camera in town yesterday……. looking for a story.

  1. Why would I want to honor/remember people who fought to keep slavery? Why would I be proud of my ancestors fighting to keep black people as slaves?

    • You didn’t put up the statues or monuments and I’ll bet you don’t have any ancestors who fought in the civil war. Neither do I that I know of. That is not the point of the article. Most of the soldiers who died in the civil war didn’t own any slaves either. The article is about the current times we live in and how our society should be dealing with disagreements. We don’t do it with angry mobs armed with sticks and billy clubs, thats for Spain and Venezuela and Iran and Iraq and the uncivilized backwaters of the World. Why is slavery even a topic of discussion today when it ended in 1865? Maybe it is because the politicians are using it to create the civil unrest we see on the TV screens every day now. As long as impressionable and easily led young people believe that racism and slavery are relevant topics in our contemporary society the unrest and civil violence will continue. You should take a close look at who really benefits from what is going on here.
