At Cahawba Christian Academy (CCA), education isn’t always just about textbooks and lectures — it’s about creating memorable experiences that engage students in ways that can enrich their learning. Infusing fun into education on more than one occasion, CCA is shaping well-rounded individuals who not only excel academically but also cherish memorable school experiences.
Recently, CCA students have been actively involved in a variety of activities that demonstrate the school’s commitment to both holistic development and community engagement.
On January 30th, CCA hosted an Impaired Driving program led by State Trooper Officer Gautney. This interactive session provided students with firsthand insights into the dangers of driving under the influence. Equipped with special goggles simulating the effects of drugs or alcohol, students navigated a course and attempted simple tasks, highlighting the impairments caused by impaired driving. It was an eye-opening experience that reinforced crucial lessons about responsible behavior.
Continuing the spirit of celebration,on February 10th, the Cahawba Christian Academy Student Government Association (SGA) organized the Annual Father/Daughter and Mother/Son Valentine’s Dance. Parents and students alike enjoyed a delightful evening filled with dinner, dessert, and dancing. The event not only fostered familial bonds but also served a noble cause, as funds raised were contributed tothe Alabama Independent School Association SGA to support the purchase of CuddleCots for hospitals.
Valentine’s Day took on a special meaning for the CCA Life Skills class on February 14th, as students visited the Bibb Medical Nursing Home tospread love and joy. With handmade Valentine’s Day cards, students shared sincere moments with the residents and staff, brightening their day.
Academic exploration took place on February 22nd when CCA’s 7th through 12th graders attended the University of Alabama Engineering Day in Tuscaloosa. From robotics and drones to metallurgical work, students learned about various fields of engineering and computer sciences, gaining insights into potential career paths.
March kicked off with a literary celebration as CCA observed Read Across America/Dr. Seuss Week from February 26th to March 1st. Dress-up days and high school students reading to preschoolers added a touch of whimsy to the week. Of course, what would Dr. Seuss Week be without green eggs and ham? It was a wonderful time of learning and fun that left everyone smiling.
