A quiet June evening in a peaceful Centreville neighborhood became a crime scene when an estranged boyfriend, who had been previously served with a court order restraining him from being anywhere near the victim, broke into the home of Katrina Wilson, waited silently for her to come home from a date with another man, and then murdered her when she entered her own home.

Joseph White, the deranged jealous man who fired the deadly shot, and then took his own life as police arrived, had already been served with the legal process that is available to the victims of domestic violence in Alabama. They are often called Domestic Violence Protection From Abuse Orders or PFA’s. While PFA’s are powerful tools for victims and law enforcement officers they are not magic and they are not bullet proof shields. If you are in a domestic situation you must remain vigilant and take extra precautions to safeguard yourself and your home. Please don’t assume that a court order will take care of the problem for you.

Katrina Wilson’s Son, Dylan Beck started a GoFundMe account to help defray the expenses the family incurred for her funeral and burial. If you would like to contribute you can find the GoFundMe account (search Katrina Wilson) at this link: GoFundMe.com
