If you happened to have missed the Cahaba Lilly festival this past Saturday May 20th, you may not know about the special announcement that was made at this year’s festival.

The West Blocton Coke Ovens Park announced a major project to relocate and preserve a 1800s log home from right here in Bibb County.  The plan is to relocate the historic building to the Coke Ovens Park to be used and preserved there.  This log cabin was built around the same time as the coke ovens and your help is needed to preserve this piece of Bibb County history.

All money raised by the Park will go to the Town of West Blocton, which owns this treasured landmark from Alabama’s Industrial Revolution.  The money will be used to remove the existing porches, bind the logs to prevent damage during transit, build a foundation at the new location, transport the building and to it’s new location.
