Susan Wesson, Executive Director of the Tombigbee RC&D Council, a non-profit organization specializing in bringing people together to identify and implement solutions addressing local issues awarded several grants to Bibb County organizations this week in partnership with Representative April Weaver, Representative Ralph Howard and Senator Cam Ward.

The funding comes from state and local agencies, private foundations, and federal partnerships and is dispersed through community grant requests serving the needs of the RC&D council area. Tombigbee RC&D covers Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Pickens, Sumter and Tuscaloosa counties.

The following grants were awarded this year to Bibb: Bibb County Senior Center $5,000.00, Bibb County Career Academy $5,000, Bibb County Chamber of Commerce $4,500, Bibb Co. Pregnancy Resource Center $3,750, New Woodstock Community Library $3,750.

Over the past two years the council has been able to invest $46,130 in Bibb County organizations according to Director Wesson. You can find more information on the Council at www.tombigbeercd.com.
